The African Baptist Church in Nantucket.
William B. Gould and Cornelia Williams Read were married here on November 22, 1862 by its pastor, the Rev. James E. Crawford. Crawford, Cornelia's uncle, was instrumental in purchasing her out of slavery in 1858. They lived on Nantucket for about a year, but ultimately settled in Dedham, Mass. (Photo by Claudia Kronenberg)
