Entrance to Sears Place.
Aunt Jones's 1864 residence at 2 Sears Place was located in city's northwest corner in a neighborhood that was a center of activity for Boston's black community. Today, Sears Place no longer exists as an official street. In 2001, I visited Boston and saw her probable residence. A friendly passerby on Anderson Street responded to my inquiry and unlocked this gate to the private alley that once was called Sears Place. (Photo by WBG IV, 2001)
