The narrow passage of the Ría de El Ferrol.
The Stonewall was docked in El Ferrol and in order to proceed to the Atlantic she had to come from the Ría de El Ferrol in full view of the Niagara in La Coruña. However, on Feb. 14, 1865 the Niagara left La Coruña and proceeded down the passage to El Ferrol. William B. Gould wrote: "The pasage is A verry narrow one bu[t] verry cold Watter."
